I like to save money, but I don’t like to look cheap. When decorating, I usually look at the super high end magazines for inspiration, then try to duplicate the results using less expensive products. Last week I saw a wedding reception decor idea I liked a lot. The couple used photo frames to hold the table number cards on each table and also to display the drink menu and taxi cab numbers at the bar. The overall effect looked polished and classy. I showed the idea to Him and he liked it too.
All this week at CVS, photo frames are buy one get one 50% off. They have a beautiful bridal style called “the Diana series” made by BP Industries. It comes in three sizes. The 4×6 (Sale $4.00, regularly $8.00) is perfect for displaying table number cards and the 5×7 (Sale $5.00, regularly $10.00) is perfect for displaying the drink menu and taxi numbers. The frames have silver edges, a pearl-colored swirl enamel border, and three small crystals at the top, bottom and two sides. They are completely bridal looking but not bridal priced! A few of the frames have defects so I only bought the good ones. I’m going to look at other CVS’s later to get enough for all our tables. I’m planning on printing the cards on cream colored stock to match the frames. After the wedding, we can put wedding photos in them and use them as thank-you gifts. Total cost for the effect: $100.
