Eaten out of house and home

We've been robbed.

A few years ago, I bought a half-gallon of ice cream at a rather shady grocery store. When I got home and opened it, I discovered it was already half-eaten. And the plastic spoon was inside the carton. Ew. Thoroughly disgusted, I returned it to a clerk who eyed me with suspicion and asked how I knew I didn't eat it. Trust me, I know. So now I had my money back and a good story to tell at parties, and I thought that was the end of it.

Until tonight.

I just opened a brand new pint of Cherry Garcia ice cream to discover it was already half-eaten. How do I know I didn't eat it?
1) I've been saving it for a special occasion, since I'm on a diet.
2) I know He didn't eat it because he hates cherries.
3) The spoon marks inside are from a round-tipped spoon. Our spoons have more of a flat tip.
4) There is a big hole dug in the middle of the ice cream. I NEVER dig holes in the ice cream, because that's how ice crystals form and ruin the whole pint!

So, in addition to the loss of my dessert, I have also now lost all faith in grocers. What are the odds of this happening twice? Oh God, why me! The worst part is that we are trying to cut grocery bills to save up for the wedding, so I can't even justify a new pint. Le sigh.

Sounds like that store needs to fire someone.

Lol... That is the first time I've heard of an incident like this.I'm very sorry that it happened and obviously you should take it back. Was it properly sealed and dated?

If this were to happen to me twice, I would not return to that store until they've figured out the identity of the culprit and fired him/her. It's completely unacceptable!

That sucks!

I'm wondering if both are from the same store?

Also, if you have a regular visitor in your house, that eats icecream out of your fridge (it still doesnt explain the spoon though!)

Nope, not sealed. I didn't notice when I bought it because I'm the kind of girl who grabs the half-opened carton of eggs off the shelf, closes it without looking inside, and hopes for the best. (this drives Him CRAZY.)

From the same store? Oddly enough, no. The two stores are 3 hours apart and are not even owned by the same conglomerate.

If we have a regular visitor, I don't know about it. I do however own a small garden gnome, and they are repudated to steal underwear. That, alas, still does not explain the spoon.

Gnomes do steal underwear. Like that episode of Southpark where Tweak saw Gnomes stealing his underwear, but everyone thought he was imagining it.
